Now that it’s officially May, I mean where has the time gone, it’s time to dust off our dresses, pull out those bathing suits and invest in a few new skirts for summer. I was lucky enough to get a taste of summer weather early this year, on my recent trip to Costa Rica. With the average temperature being in the high eighties I gently tossed the white jeans I had packed aside, and opted for something lighter and more breathable come dinner time, skirts.

As most of you know, I’m a huge fan of dresses, but as of last winter, I’ve really jumped on the skirt bandwagon as well. To be honest, I’ve worn a skirt almost every day of my childhood thanks to uniforms, so it was only natural that come college, I would want to take a skirt hiatus. But with the new season here and new arrivals rolling into stores, I figured I would expand my skirt collection and round up some of my favorite styles for you all. From denim to maxi, each type of skirt has a special place in my heart. Whether I’m dressing for a photo shoot or a casual night out, a good skirt can really elevate my mood and not to mention, they are wicked easy to transition from day to night wear.

Okay, below you’ll find 5 skirt types you need this summer: the denim skirt, the printed skirt, the striped skirt, the maxi skirt and a personal favorite of mine the midi skirt. I hope these feminine styles inspire you to give the jeans a night off and get creative with your style. Now I want to hear from you, drop us a line in the comment section below, and share which skirts type is your favorite to flaunt around town.
