Double Breasted Button Vest c/o || Ruffle Sweater c/o || Jeans || Mules
In my closet, there are a few pieces that I return to autumn after autumn, and pumpkin patch after pumpkin patch. After wearing the above outfit several times in the past month, I figured I’d pull together a few autumn essentials you need to complete your closet.
To be honest, come fall I usually have a uniform. It’s comprised of a sweater, vest (because it’s basically like wearing a blanket), jeans, and mules. Those four items are the easiest way to look effortless and remain classic, each day of fall.
A good pair of jeans will make or break my day. Finding the perfect pair that fits comfortable is really important, especially as I spend most of my day sitting at my laptop, typing away. Nothing is more distracting from writing a post or responding to emails than wearing tight jeans that aren’t breathable. So whether you’re heading to class, a pumpkin patch or a local fair, here are some of my favorite jeans, I return to each fall: the perfect pair of black jeans, the ultimate highrise jeans (comes in short!), classic straight leg jeans.
Besides jeans, an item I return to year after year is actually these mules. Now that you have the perfect pair of jeans, it’s time to find the coziest fall shoe, mules. I specifically love this pair. I love the classic tassel and loafer look to these shoes, it really pulls together the classic style of New England fall.
A warm vest is a New England gal’s staple. I have about four vests, that I rotate wearing during the season. You can see the tie vest, I wore in this post, but my newest addition to my collection is this camel double breasted button down vest. There is something so classic about this piece. Not only is it lightweight, but it also keeps me extremely warm. & for more sporty occasions I’ve been loving my Patagonia vest, I got this exact one for Christmas two years ago and it’s 100% a fall staple of mine.
Finally, my last fall staple is slightly obvious but it’s a statement sweater. Whether it be like the bell sleeve one I’m wearing above, or this classic knitted print, finding sweaters with added detail really makes the look unique. I would say I have about ten sweaters that I rotate throughout autumn. To make things simple, I hang them all up on a rack by my closet, so getting ready is as easy as pulling the sweater off my hanger.
That about wraps up my autumn essentials. Remember autumn is a great time to embrace natural tones and have some fun, whether that means leopard pumps or denim dresses, don’t be afraid to embrace the best textures of autumn too. xx Aubrey
