Sankaty Head Lighthouse Nantucket The Coastal Confidence by Aubrey Yandow

From lobster rolls to adventures in Nantucket, a summer trip to New England should be a rite of passage! However, if you grew up here you might be taking it for granted – as Matt and I sometimes do.

When planning a date sometimes we resort to staying in and binge-watching Netflix or we head out for a movie and dinner. We often forget about the amazing options just 30 minutes to two hours away.

This summer we decided to make a summer bucket list. Exploring lighthouses together was a top pick! Lighthouses are great for romantic pictures, good conversation, and come at a minimal to free cost!

5 Lighthouses You’ll Want To Visiting On Your Next Date

Sankaty Head Lighthouse – Nantucket, MA

This is my favorite lighthouse in Nantucket! As you can see from the photos in this post, Sankaty Head has a unique striped detail. Often lighthouses across New England are white or stone, but not this one! While in Nantucket, Matt and I had a little morning date that started by exploring the village of Siascount for coffee and baked good. Then we leisurely walked and snapped pictures on the Sconset Bluff Walk. We went a litter further to Sankaty Head Lighthouse and took in the view!

Saybrook Point Lighthouse – Saybrook, CT

I’ve featured Saybrook Point on my Instagram. With each feature, the DM’s come rolling in asking where this lighthouse is. It is actually part of Saybrook Point Inn and Spa. The best part is you can stay inside the lighthouse because it’s a suite! If walking back to your own private lighthouse isn’t a romantic way to end a date – I don’t know what is. If you’re visiting for a day date, I recommend mini-golf on the oceanfront across the street and setting aside time to explore all historic homes Saybrook has to offer.

Scituate Lighthouse – Scituate, MA

The entire town of Scituate is on my list for exploring this summer – including their lighthouse! Boston-blogger Robbin Mangano shared this cedar-shingled town and all the quintessential coffee shops and seafood storefronts residing within.

Portland Head Lighthouse – Cape Elizabeth, ME

This infamous lighthouse is situated at the entrance of the Portland Harbor. Matt and I are looking forward to exploring Portland (hopefully) in August. Portland Head Lighthouse will definitely be on our weekend getaway agenda.

Nobska Lighthouse – Falmouth, MA

If you’re falling in love at the Cape this summer, head to Nobska Lighthouse to take in the sunset and a picture or two. With a white picket fence and cedar-shingled home abutting the base, this lighthouse built in 1829 is worth a visit!
