From seasonal New England travel guides to colonial home restoration content, there’s rarely time for us to discuss things I might not be an expert on, but love – like makeup, so today I’m sitting down to share how to get a fresh face for fall!
Recently, our creative copywriter, Lauren, who is not only my cousin but also a true confidant urged me to bring you all up to speed with my current personal beauty routine. So, when the opportunity to shop at The Mall of New Hampshire and help kick-off Simon Malls Beauty Week fell into my lap I knew this was the perfect time to share while embracing a fresh face for fall! For my visit with The Mall of New Hampshire, I went into the shopping experience with a specific mission: to find the perfect fall lip – and I did at Macy’s with MAC Cosmetics color Marrakesh in matte!
September 16th through 22nd The Mall of New Hampshire is hosting a week of beauty offers that are worth checking out. Plus, Beauty Week is available at 74 Simon Malls across the country! It’s the perfect opportunity to not only save – but update your own skincare, haircare, and beauty routine for the fall season!
As for my personal daily makeup routine, it takes about 10 minutes. I love my morning “me time” because – as you know – I am not a morning person. So, I’m grateful for the time to wake up, listen to my year-round Christmas music. and put on my face to start the day off on a good note.
My skin is on the drier side. So, you’ll notice I layer a lot of hydrating products on top of hydrating products. I store all of my products in one of my favorite purchases – this mini-fridge. Keeping my skincare refrigerated helps with inflammation and makes my routine feel more luxurious.
As stated above, I have wicked dry skin. So, I start my beauty routine with a few layers of hydration treatments. Each night after I wash my face, I apply Korres Brightening Sleeping Mask. The mask is super hydrating and is one of the best-smelling beauty products I’ve ever used.
When I wake in the morning, I try not to wash my face. Instead, I go straight back in with another layer of moisture by using Charlotte Tilbury Magic Cream Moisturizer. I follow-up with eye cream, Currently, I’m rotating between the super creamy Caudalie Premier Cru and the super hydrating Clinique All About The Eyes. Last, I use my jade facial roller for a full 5 minutes to set the products.
While at the mall, I did pop into The Body Shop to test out some of their best-selling skincare. & instantly fell in love with their Nicaraguan Coffee Intense Awakening Mask. The mask smells like a steamy shot of espresso, exfoliates without drying, and shrinks the appearance of pores! I now use this one or twice at night to help clear the face of flakes!
Over the years, I’ve experimented with tons of foundations! I’ve tried everything from Rihanna’s Fenty line to Beauty Blender’s liquid whip foundation. But, I continuously go back to the most affordable option with the best results – IT Cosmetics SPF 50 CC Cream.
I wear the shade light medium and apply this product with a beauty blender!
Oh gosh, I think 2015 was the first year I started to fill in my eyebrows and boy does it make all the difference!
I have pretty fine, yet dark eyebrows. So, I use an angled brush to apply Anastasia’s Brow Powder Duo. I use the shade medium brown and set my brows with a clear gel.
My makeup journey started in 2009, during my freshman year of high school, with MAC Studio Finish SPF 35 Concealer. It has been my go-to concealer ever since!
At the time, I was watching a lot of beauty YouTubers, all of whom used this product. Let’s just say I was ‘influenced!” My perfect match is NW10.
Since my early high school days, I’ve turned to MAC Cosmetics to create, recreate, and test new shadow shades. I tend to stick to a light brown tone on my lid, a glimmer of gold in the middle, and a warm brown in my crease. This auburn and golden-hued palette is my go-to. However, I’m planning to mix things up with a new palette’s soon – like this gingerbread one from Too Faced!
Since my 2015 post, the biggest change I’ve made in my makeup routine is trading my liquid eyeliner for a more subtle look with this cream brown eyeliner.
As for mascara, I prefer a thick, bold look. Which is why I will only use Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara. I’ve tried a range of mascaras from drugstore to luxury brands and nothing beats the Too Faced formula. I always have my go-to mascara on hand by stocking up anytime HSN offers a bundle deal!
Step Seven: Finishing Touches
I top off my make-up look with a touch of NARS blush. I love using a blush stick because it’s one less brush I have to clean. My favorite shade is Portofino.
Next, I go in with this kit for a subtle contour and bronze, then wrap up the look with some highlighter below my eyebrows and sometimes a tad on my eyelid.
By far my favorite part of my look – lipstick!
Whether I’m going for a classic red lip with MAC Cosmetics Russian Red or a more natural look with Chanel’s Antoinette, I truly believe a fresh face isn’t finished until the lipstick is on!
My go-to color for this season is my new MAC Cosmetics lipcolor Marrakesh in matte!
