New England is home to so many antique shops filled to the brim with historic treasures! Whether you’re looking for something specific like moderately priced transferware platters or a high-end colonial piece New England has it. Once I saw a portrait of George Washington painted by an artist during his presidency worth hundreds of thousands of dollars.
With so many good shops to hunt, our crew decided to split Connecticut’s shoreline Antique Trail into two posts. Our first post focused on the Eastern Shoreline towards Rhode Island, check out the post here. This post will focus on Connecticut’s Western Shoreline! Below you’ll find our top picks curated by Aubrey and crewmember Lauren.
Antique Trail Part 2 Connecticut’s western Shoreline:
#1. ABA Clearance Center– Orange, Connecticut | If you’re looking for a warehouse full of high-end but affordable pieces, ABA Clearance Center is for you! ABA stands for America’s Best Auctioneer, which is the East Coast’s leading auctioneer of fine art, jewelry, and home decor. Usually, this company travels up and down the East Coast for auctions, but Connecticut residents are lucky enough to have America’s Best Auctioneer Clearance Center right in their backyard!
#2. Runk Douglas Antiques – Southport, Connecticut | I’m rarely down in Western Connecticut, but when I am I usually drive by this quaint antique shop. Since I’ve only traveled through Southport after work hours, I haven’t personally stopped into Runk Douglas Antiques. But, by peering in the windows, I can tell this place is right up my alley! From small framed paintings to gilded mirrors, it’s definitely on my antiquing bucket list.
#3. Elizabeth Jackson Estate Sales & Consign It– Greenwich, Connecticut | Furniture, silver, crystal, transferware, and rugs – this place has it all! Not only can you purchase vintage cars from Elizabeth Jackson Estate Sales, but you can consign items too. Online shoppers unite – this shop gives customers the option to buy online!
#4. Odesmith & Richards – New Canaan, Connecticut | If you’re looking for a piece that’s out of the ordinary, you’ll likely find it at Odesmith & Richards. While I have yet to venture into Odesmith & Richards, it’s on my must-see list because they offer an array of eclectic items. Including, sterling, signed and unsigned paintings, Victorian brass, and statuary from all over the world!
#5. Shiraz Antique & Vintage Rugs – Darien, Connecticut | This family-run business has been in operation for over 50 years. Their extensive rug and tapestry collection include period European carpets, unique antique Oriental rugs, classic Persian, and Antique Caucasian Rugs. If you’re looking for a specific size or color run, don’t fret. Shiraz offers a multitude of options including accent rugs, oversize rugs, tapestries, and runners.
Thanks for letting me know about it. Great job.
