A few weeks ago, our crew was invited to New York for an event at the Good Housekeeping Headquarters, in Manhattan; for a night of fashion, fun and a new spin on laundry with the brand Miele. Quickly and without hesitation, we responded back to the invite with a GIANT, yes; as I’ve been obsessing over Miele’s products ever since Matt and I began looking for our first home. With that being said, New York City is always a whirlwind and with so much to do, see and capture; we felt it would be easiest to just bring you all along for the day; and get a behind the scenes peek, into our content production.
Personally, I prefer taking the train into the city from Connecticut, so that’s what we did! Like many trips to NYC, our trip started off with an hour drive and another hour train ride into Grand Central. To be honest, I really don’t mind taking the train into New York, as I’ll go above and beyond, to avoid having to drive in the city. Also, the train is the perfect opportunity to get some emails in, before the busy day ahead of us. By noon, Tessa and I had arrived in the city and just like that it was go, go, go for the rest of the day.
Our first stop on the itinerary was to visit the West Village. Neither of us had explored this area of the city before and with Tessa wanting to see the NYU campus, shooting content in the West Village just made sense. We walked up and down the townhouse-lined streets of the West Village, capturing the charm and taking notes on design features like color pallets, shutters, and wood paneling; for my future home of course.
After an hour of exploring the West Village and watching the taping of the show The Blacklist, Tessa and I decided it was almost time to head back uptown for the Miele & Good Housekeeping event. With that in mind, we quickly decided on Cotena, a delicious Italian restaurant, to appease our appetite. We both immediately ordered the ravioli, because it just looked too good to pass up, and quickly ate, paid and left as we are in New York after all.
With all that being said, Tessa and I felt so lucky to be in New York on such a beautiful crisp fall day. With temperatures in the high 50’s and an overcast sky, we were both warm enough to wear skirts and light layers. I decided on a very New York, black and white getup. I paired this ruffled blouse with my travel sized Henri Bendel, suede shoes, a wool jacket, and an older tweed skirt. We both had to dress in day-to-night looks, as we didn’t have the time or a place to change before the event. & before we blinked we were back on the Subway headed to 59th street.
Now, let’s get to the good stuff, the Miele x Good Housekeeping Event. Like I stated earlier, I’m a HUGE fan of both of these brands so getting a chance to physically explore their headquarters, was like a dream come true. Now make sure you watch the behind the scenes vlog below, to get all the details about Miele’s new intelligent W1/T1 washing machines and dryers, but on that note, I’m going to do my best at going over my favorite features from the Miele machines here as well.
Again, we all know Matt and I are currently searching for our new home. Truthfully, the one thing we do know is that it’s going to be a fixer-upper, which means new appliances from the kitchen to the laundry. With that being said you could say I’ve already done some research, on the washing machine and dryer market, which was why it was so organic for me to attend this event! I was beyond excited to see the W1/T1 in person and get all my questions answered by actual members of the brand.
Okay, a few details and pointers I took away from my time at the event is that the Miele W1 washing machine features the company’s exclusive ‘TwinDos’ system, the industry’s first two-phase automatic liquid detergent dispensing system, which can save you about 30% on detergent usage! I am here to shamefully admit that I’ve ruined many white tees, by pouring too much detergent into the washer. With that being said, this feature seemed like the foolproof solution both Matt and I need in our new home. Finally, the QuickIntense Wash program used by the W1 washing machine, allows a regular load of laundry to be done in less than 60 minutes, a HUGE perk for me because I hate having to wait around to turn over my laundry.
So let’s talk about the Miele T1 Dryer, shall we! A few features that I personally admired on the dryer front is that the Miele T1 is, in fact, a ventless dryer that was designed with both high efficiency and drying speeds in mind, thanks to Miele’s Heat Pump Technology. Honestly, though my favorite feature was the SteamFinish option, which adds steam during the drying process to prepare the fabric for ironing or even eliminates the need to be ironed altogether! Ironing is probably my LEAST favorite chore, so this feature really sold the whole machine for me.
Overall, you know the Miele W1/T1 washing machines and dryers are worth the hype because Good Housekeeping has given them their seal of approval, which mind you is NOT easy to achieve. All and all, I had such a fun time at the event and even left with my own laundry tote, which I’ll need until Matt and I get a new washer and dryer set up in our first home. So I want to hear from you guys, do any of you have Miele products? And do you like seeing behind the scenes videos? Can’t wait to hear what you have to say in the comments below.
