Living in New England means living in close proximity to uniquely quintessential beach towns. From the rocky coast of Maine to the weathered shingled homes lining the Cape – we are lucky to have so many beaches to explore. This past weekend my cousin and I spontaneously headed to the Cape which prompted a quick trip to Christmas Tree Shops andThat! to stock up on everyday beach essentials, ideal for keeping in the car all summer long.

When I’m headed to the Cape or out exploring beach towns, I find it easiest to keep my beach essentials neatly stored in my trunk – ready to go at any moment. So before our trip, I headed to Christmas Tree Shops andThat! to update and restock on beach towels, sunscreen, folding chairs, umbrellas, plates, and more.

Whether you’re spontaneously stopping at the beach or had the weekend planned, I always find a beach tote to be a life-savor for organizing my beach essentials. I will admit, my beach totes often take a beating, so I do enjoy picking out a new one each season. When browsing the aisles at Christmas Tree Shops andThat! before I headed to the Cape, I was drawn to this oversized muted seashell tote. It fit all of my towels, paper plates, utensils, napkins, and sunscreen. Not only does it keep my car organized but it also makes transporting beach essentials from the car to the beach a breeze.

Another item I always stock up on when visiting the Christmas Tree Shops andThat! during this time of year are pop-up umbrellas. They’re amazing for the beach but also for the boat – being easy to assemble and easy to transport since they come apart. Whether I need some shade on the boat or on the beach, if I could recommend just one item I would say these light and compact umbrellas – they are a gamechanger.

Finally, if you’re looking to stock up on floats come summertime, I highly recommend Christmas Tree Shops andThat!. They have just about any size float for any age group. I love keeping a variety of easy-to-fold-up floats in my beach tote along with a battery-operated pump to easily bring on the boat or the beach.

With plenty of local beaches to explore I can’t wait to see where my beach essentials take me. I always try to take full advantage of New England’s coastline come summertime – whether it’s boating the Connecticut River, enjoying fresh seafood, or just setting up a spot to enjoy a book, the sun, and the sea. This year I’m really hoping to make it to Martha’s Vineyard for the first time, along with visiting a few of my favorite local spots like Watch Hill, Niantic, Napatree, and Groton Long Point.

Do you have a favorite New England beach town in mind that I should add to my list? If so let me know below!
