Hey Guys! Today was suppose to be a reel talk session with Mr. Matt, however I got a few questions recently about staying motivated sooooo, I thought I would push back Matt’s reel talk, till next week, and address the questions on hand.

What Motivates You

Oh boy staying motivated, when blogging is hard. It all seems so glamorous & easy, but in real life it’s a lot more grunt work then it appears. Lots of emails, editing & working solo, which I HATE and can be very un-motivating.

So in order to stay motivated, I believe you first have to figure out: What Motivates You?

I learned a lot about this concept when I was in college, but basically in order to be successful you have to figure out what you are reaching for! Pretty basic, but let me break it down further.

Are you motivated by a leader or a specific person? Are you motivated by being an underdog & proving others wrong? By job positions? By making a lot of money or by doing what makes you happy? Hey some people are even motivated by the ‘YOLO’ lifestyle or the idea of no regrets.

I know people who are motivated by all of the above, but figuring out what makes you tick and why you are working towards something, can literally help you work.

What Motivates Me:

Whenever I’m feeling unmotivated or down on myself, in terms of my blog, I always take a break and go explore the thing that motivates me, New England. The whole reason why I started blogging was to capture New England lifestyle, because I was away from it & I wanted to be back. New England was the reason why I graduated a semester early, the reason why I started this brand & the reason why I pull out my camera to take pictures.

New England is what makes me tick.

Now being away from New England can be hard, but somehow I’m most motivated when I’m away. I believe the reason why I’m so motivated when I’m away, is because I realize how much I want to go back.

I kind of have a big picture of where I want this blog & brand to be, & it’s totally in New England. My sister Tessa even knows where I want my dream warehouse to be (shoutout to Tessa). So when I was at school in California & when I’m sitting in my office in Texas; I’m more motivated than ever.

So find out what motivates you, why it motivates you & then use that to keep your goals going. Life can be stressful, boring or just blah sometimes; but never lose sight of what makes you tick.

  1. Absolutely love this post! It’s so easy to lose motivation even when it comes to things you love! I think the biggest motivation killer is comparison. Comparing yourself to others, your blog to others, or even just comparing where you are now to where you want to be. But it can also be a great motivating factor depending on how you look at it! I love that you said sometimes when you’re feeling unmotivated you just need to go out and immerse yourself in something you love that will surely motivate you again! Love love love this post!
