Summer Spots Worth A Ferry Ride To, In New England

Hyannis, MA to Nantucket, MA

The most iconic New England ferry destination is Nantucket itself. In fact, the pictures in this post were taken on the island. Nantucket is a must-see but, navigating the tourist destination can be overwhelming. Don’t fret – before planning your trip check out our latest travel guide to summering in Nantucket along with our vlog on Nantucket with Popsugar.

New London, CT to Montauk, NY

Looking to explore one of the most well-known New York summertime hotspots? Well, you can hop a ferry to Montauk straight out of Connecticut! Montauk is the perfect destination to meet up with city friends or escape to for a date. From luxury cedar-shingled DJ booths to frose´ on tap, you’ll get city amenities but with a seaside view.

rockland, ME to Vinalhaven, ME

This ferry is on our to-do list! Matt’s grandparents own a home on Vinalhaven that we’d love to visit one summer. I’ve been told Vinalhaven is the place to go when you want to get away from it all! With daily caught lobsters and a low-key quiet community, it’s a place to unplug and relax. Plus, the area is scenically stunning – a great place to play with landscape photography!

Boston, MA to ProvincetowN, MA

Once Friday at 5:00 p.m. hits – it’s time to head out of the Boston office and jump on the ferry to one of my favorite spots – Provincetown! I used to avoid visiting Cape Cod in the summer because of the intense traffic – until I found out about the ferry! And the ferry isn’t just a summertime timesaver. During the fall, Matt and I find ourselves in Boston every other month, so we take advantage of the ferry then too! If you’re planning a trip to Provincetown we’re got your travel guide covered here

New London, CT to Fishers Island

You may have sipped some Fishers Island Lemonade – but did you know it’s named after a real place? With a crazy night scene, the quick trip from New London is the perfect getaway for anyone seeking fun and adventure! For the best dinner and drinks – check out the Pequot Inn.

As for the perfect ferry attire, I decided to embrace blouses! When on the hunt for functional blouses with a bit of flair I tend to go formal with a pop of color. Which makes the piece both work-friendly and weekend-worthy! My yellow eyelet Lilly top checked all those boxes. I wore the top to work Friday then paired it with scallop shorts for the ferry ride over to Nantucket.

I hope this post inspired you to take your own ferry adventure while the summer sun is still in full view!
