If you follow me on Instagram, and if you don’t you should be, then you already know that this past weekend Tessa and I headed to Newport, Rhode Island, for a little adventure. Now we’ve been to Newport a few times before and had done a lot of the typical tourist attractions like touring the mansions and taking a plunge at first beach; sooooo when we made plans to visit Newport again, we wanted to explore an attraction neither of us had seen prior. Long story short, that’s how we found ourselves at The Green Animals Topiary Garden.
The Green Animals Topiary Garden is a little north of Newport and does require a twenty-minute car or uber ride to get there from downtown, BUT it was so worth the drive. From the moment I walked onto the property, I felt like I was being transported into a fairytale, or at least to Europe, as the gardens reminded me of the beautiful castle grounds Matt and I explored in Ireland last August. Now, none the less, Tessa and I spent about two hours within the garden’s walls capturing the unique and humors topiary structures, along with exploring all the nooks and crannies the garden had to offer.
This day, in particular, was actually a busy one for Tessa and I, as we were actually filming our Newport, Rhode Island travel video guide for our Youtube channel! Oh and speaking of Youtube make sure to follow us over there and keep your eyes peeled for the travel video coming out on Wednesday! Okay, I digress, we originally had no intention of shooting outfit photos here but after stepping into the garden we instantly felt like the topiary structures were too cute and rightfully deserved their own special post. I mean, am I wrong?
Between the smells of freshly cut grass and the fairytale-like environment, I literally twirled my way through the garden thanks to this tropical print shirt dress. In fact, at one point in time, Tessa told me I needed to ‘stop living my best life’ and give the twirling a rest for photo sake but I honestly couldn’t help it. I felt like a movie-star in this perfectly crafted shirt dress from Brooks Brothers! Now if I’ve said it once then I’ll say it again, but nobody crafts a dress quite like the Brooks Brothers team. Each dress I try on from them is perfectly structured and cut to make the subject feel both classic but with a warm feminine twist. Please please please take a second to check out some of their dresses for yourself. In fact, a lot of their designs are being featured in their current annual sale, I’ve linked a few of my favorite ones here, here and here, and you guys can thank me later!
Now let’s get back to the garden! Just a friendly FYI you do have to pay in order to enter and tour the topiary garden and historical Victorian home built, in 1872. The home is gently placed at the base of the garden and has a beautiful view of Narragansett Bay. The price is about $17.00, and this attraction does count as one of the ‘Newport Mansion’ ticket attractions. Now I highly recommend purchasing a two or five house ticket pass if you are headed to Newport for the first time, as the passes actually don’t expire and having the passes on hand will save you money and hassle in the long run.
All and all I really had a magical time, I’m a sucker for boxwood so you could say I was really living my best life. Now I can’t wait to share more of my trip and our official Newport Travel Guide with you all on Wednesday, but until then I’d love to hear from you. Have you ever been to a topiary garden? And if so where was the garden located because I really want to drag Matt to a few of these gardens to get him inspired for our future home. I mean, a girl can dream right!? xx Aubrey

Absolutely adorable!!
That garden looks absolutely beautiful. I’m definitely adding it to my list the next time I visit Newport. I have that same dress and I’m absolutely obsessed with it, it’s such a gorgeous and flattering dress.
