While it’s not the official start of Fall yet, New England’s recent brisk weather has made it feel more like mid-October than the balmy Septembers we’ve had in the past. This cooler weather has had me unboxing my turtlenecks and transitional fall jackets, sooner than expected and preparing for the unpredictable weather New England has in store for us.
If you’re headed to New England this September I’d highly recommend investing in a transitional fall jacket. I get countless questions from you all about how to transition your wardrobe into fall, so today I’m sharing where you should start and why a quilted long coat is the ideal transitional fall jacket. First and foremost, quilted long coats are so easy to travel with, pack and are so multi-purpose as they act as a great barrier between you and the wind, rain or sunshine New England has to offer. Secondly, a quilted long coat is an ideal piece to pair with your fall essentials because of its timeless cut. When layered with your typical fall essentials like jeans, turtlenecks, and tees; your long coat will be sure to tie the whole look together. Finally, I always recommend the quilted long coat because it’s easy to dress up or down, whether you’re heading to work or out to a local fall fair you’ll be sure to get lots of use out of this jacket no matter the occasion.
Okay, so that’s why I believe you need a quilted long coat in your life as we head into fall. It’s no secret that I’m always cold, so I usually style my fall coats with turtlenecks, like this cream one I’m wearing above. I always make sure to cuff my jacket sleeves when styled with a turtleneck, so we can all admire the details that go into each piece. I love the delicate buttons on the sleeve of the turtleneck and the classic plaid pattern lining the quilted long coat. Finally, I always make sure to tuck my turtleneck into my favorite pair of high waisted jeans before stepping out the door, this little touch gives you that put together preppy look, us New Englanders live by.
Honestly, I could go on and on about fall transitional wear today because I’m just so excited for fall to get here, and I know I’m not alone. But I’m going to wrap it up here and I’d love to know what your favorite fall transitional piece is this year? Do tell below.
