While visiting Vermont, our crew decided to pop into a few country stores. We found the local shops hidden in the rolling hills of rural New England, tucked in a snow-covered ski village, and nestled on a historic route. Country stores are small town shops that sell a wide variety of goods. Basically, they’re a one-stop shopping center!

Picture a local-run shop lined with departments catering to everything from deli meats to skincare products. Country stores have it all and no state does it quite like Vermont! Today we have our newest TCC Crew Member, Lauren recapping what we think are 3 Country Stores Worth Visiting In Vermont:

#1) The Vermont Country Store // Weston, VT

Founded by Vrest and Mildred Orton in 1946, The Vermont Country Store, specializes in nostalgic items that bring customers back to their childhood. The family-oriented store has aisles of penny candy that’ll satisfy any sweet tooth on a budget. Peruse treats such as health and beauty products for yourself or gifts to bring back home like Vermont maple syrup or award-winning local farmstead cheeses. Visitors can even sample some of the in-house cheese, crackers, and dips. Yum!

#2) F.H. Gillingham & Sons // Woodstock, VT

This family-run business has been a community staple since 1886.  F.H. Gillingham & Sons offers a variety of goodies for their longtime and first-time customers! When you enter the shop you can expect to have your pick at fresh baked goods, farm-fresh produce, retro toys, apparel, and so much more. This country store even offers a selection of wine and beer.

#3) The Warren Store // Warren, VT

Visitors come to this country store for fresh baked treats or a deli sandwich – and leave with unique gifts! Once an old hardware shop, the Warren Store came to fruition in 1970. The eclectic country store offers a little bit of everything. Whether you’re looking for Vermont staples like jam and maple syrup, funky items for your home, or a new accessory for your wardrobe – you’ll likely find it here!
