New England has gone full-blown peak foliage and I couldn’t be more ecstatic!
As the season continues to change and the days get shorter – I opt to take my lunch break outside or substitute a trip to the gym for a brisk walk. This week while venturing on my mid-day walk layers officially became a style requirement. It’s time to tuck away my dresses and short-sleeve sweaters and pull out my unofficial autumn uniform – black slacks and a white button-up shirt.
If you’re looking for new ways to style your iconic fall item, I’m sharing 4 ways to layer a white button-up shirt for fall!
4 Ways To Layer a White Button Up Shirt For Fall
1. Boyfriend’s Blazer
I’m taking a play out of the Kardashian playbook here and styling Matt’s sports blazers over my white button-up for work. While men’s blazers are oversized, they add some 80s edge to your look. I first tried out the look when Matt draped his Red Fleece sports jacket over my shoulders at an event. I wouldn’t wear the look for a formal meeting, but love it for a fashion moment. Shop the similar options I’ve linked below!
2. Button Cardigan
The button cardigan is one of the most underrated fall pieces! Cardigans add a layer of warmth, are easy to travel with, and fold into your bag if the weather warms up. Recently I’ve been loving Ralph Lauren cardigans because they fit perfectly and well made. The cardigan I’m wearing here is from last year, so I’ve linked similar ones below. Also – here, here, and here.
3. Tweed Jacket
Fall and tweed are a perfect match! Since tweed comes in so many different colors, the texture is one of my top picks to pair with a white button-up. I’ve had this jacket for a few years now but anticipate adding this short tweed jacket and this houndstooth tweed jacket (when it goes on sale) to my tweed collection.
4. Double-Breasted Vest
When layered with a white button-up, a double-breasted vest makes for a professional look. While it’s not the warmest option, it is a sleek stylish layering option. I’ve had this double-breasted vest for years, as you can see here, I’ve listed a couple of options for you to shop here and here.
