This is the busiest time of year, and sometimes I think we all need a reminder to slow down and take the scenic route. Recently I’ve been non-stop, between traveling back home to New England for monthly shoots, redesigning the TCC at Home online store & spending all day preparing my editorial calendar for the busiest time of year, I realized I needed to take a step back.

Sometimes we get so focused on numbers, profits and growth that we forget to recognize all we’ve done and the big picture. I’m a firm believer in ‘the big picture’, in fact Matt often says he’s realistic (aiming to complete what needs to be done now) & I’m a big picture (aiming to complete whats needed to eventually create the big picture). Matt’s so good at dealing with the now, and I’m so good at planning for the future, thats why I think we are the perfect match.

However, blogging means spending a lot of time on social media, which honestly isn’t good. I always like the advice of ‘staying in your own lane’ and focusing on you, well I often find that social media can derail that train of thought pretty quickly.

So this weekend, Matt & I are hosting my brother, mother & sister Tessa here in Dallas for friendsgiving, and I’m going to aim at putting the phone away and focusing on the now (Matt literally laughed when he read this, because my iPhone 6 & I are basically one person). Whenever I’m in New England and feeling stuck in what everyone else is up to & what I need to work on, I’ll just get in the car and take a scenic route.

It’s the best thing for me. It calms me and I usually end up at some cafe with a cup of coffee and a better perspective. What do you guys do when you’re feeling overwhelmed or fixated not on yourself? We all get that feeling and I’d love to hear what makes you guys tick. Enjoy your weekend and we’ll chat on Monday. xx Aubrey

  1. Your skirt is bomb! I have pretty much the exact same one, and a black version too. Such a 70s throwback that I adore. Really cute way to style it with that white blouse and scarf…totally something I may cop from you and attempt. Super inspirational!

  2. Oh my god, yes I get that too! Sometimes I just get fed up with social media that I just want to drop my phone in the toilet. I’m lucky to live next to one of the biggest parks in London so I always put some headphones on, blast my favourite music and go for a nice long walk.

    1. I totally agree, whenever I’m stressed music is my ultimate go to! Glad we’re on the same page 🙂
