There’s something tranquil about an early morning bike ride through New England seaside towns.

I jump at the opportunity to grab my bike,  camera, and binoculars to catch a glimpse of scenic views before tourists have awakened. One of my favorite early morning routes is to pedal down to our local bakery to pick up a breakfast of bacon, egg, and cheese sandwiches for my family.

Recently I traveled to Nantucket and stayed at The White Elephant. The hotel offers guests the opportunity to check out basket bikes – Matt and I couldn’t resist!

It was Matt’s first trip to Nantucket – so we knew this would be the perfect way to capture cedar-shingled homes while getting acquainted with the island. We set our alarm for 6:30 a.m. and were pedaling down seaside bike paths by 7:00 a.m.!

With a morning coffee date as our destination, I dressed for the occasion in this floral Gal Meets Glam jumpsuit. The lightweight material had me feeling like Jackie Kennedy as we biked up and down the seashell-paved bike trails.

This trip gave me the idea to share my biking bucket list compromised of the top cedar-shingled New England towns worth strolling through this summer!

NANTUCKET, MA – If you’re looking for breathtaking scenery, nothing beats a bike ride through Nantucket. I like to head out early in the morning to explore the hidden neighborhoods and capture cedar-shingled homes as far as the eye can see. Check out Nantucket’s town website here for a list of over 35 miles to explore!

BLOCK ISLAND, RI – When I was little my family and I would drive over to the Block Island Ferry, park our car, and take our bikes over to the island for a day. There simply is no better way to explore this cedar-shingled town. The official bike tour is just over eight miles. I’ve taken the tour many times for fun and photos! PROVINCETOWN, MA – You might remember when we visited Provincetown last year, However, if you’re new around here you defiantly want to check out our travel guide of Provincetown here. All and all Provincetown is by far one of my favorites spots on the cape specifically because of its stunning dunes systems. So if you’re heading to the cape this summer consider taking a bike ride on the Province Lands Trail. You can read about the trail here!

WATCH HILL, RI & WESTERLY, RI – While there isn’t an official bike path, I love biking through Watch Hill and often extend the trip past the small historic district and into Westerly. If I find myself on Watch Hill Road I usually make my way to Misquamicut Beach! Westerly has some extremely charming cedar-shingled homes worth the visit!

KENNEBUNKPORT, ME – These bike trails are on my summer to-do list. Truthfully I’ve never been to Kennebunkport. But, I hear they have some of the best fresh lobster rolls – so clearly I’d be a fan! I’m hoping to visit this summer to explore the fisherman’s village by bike! I’ve already done some research and there are plenty of trails worth exploring for any level cyclist. Check out the list of bike trails in the Kennebunkport area here.
