It’s summertime in New England which means it’s time to unbutton the covers on our boats and induldge in the best dockable resturants Connecticut has to offer. Now, this past week has been eceptionally hot in New England, which has all of us leaving our yards, pools and golf carts and heading towards the cool refreshing brezze of the ocean. To be honest, this time of year is one of my favorites to dress for but I often get emails from you all asking for suggestions on what to wear, when boating in New England; so Tessa and I decided to snap these pictures after our recent trip to Abbott’s in the Rough.
Abbott’s in the Rough is one of my favorite dockable resturants in Connecticut, from it’s famous lobster rolls to it’s waterfront picnic tables, it’s as quantessential as it gets. The boat ride to Abbott’s in the Rough from where I live can seem like a haul though, so it’s always important to dress for comfort, pratically and in something you’re not afraid to get wet!
Whenever I head out on the boat, I always like to stick to a nautical style. Whether that means blue and navy attire, like what I’m wearing above, or a classic striped number; nothing is more traditional than a nautical moment out in sea. Now if you take a look at what I actually decided to wear, when boating in New England the other day, you’ll completely see the nautical theme I talked about pulled in. Normally I would recommend wearing jeans when boating, because the wind chill can be no joke, but since it was so hot the other day, I opted to wear these cuffed white jeans shorts and a nautical blue elbow cropped sweater.
I feel in love with this sweater, from the moment I saw it on Vineyard Vines online store. It comes in both red and blue, and it was so hard to choose, but I am forever thankful for the Vineyard Vines team sending me this number. It’s the perfect weight for an evening boat ride and it’s classic cut is ideal for pulling off that nautical style.
Anyway, I’m debating making a video on this topic and showing you the whole process, from start to finish! Let me know if this is something you’d like to see below and I hope this post inspired you to get nautical and hit the open sea.
