wethers-caramel-applesWith the official arrival of autumn, last Thursday, it’s time to embrace all the tastes & scents of the season. YUM, so the TCC Team and I are starting a new series on the blog, called Autumn Appetite; we’ll be creating our favorite autumn inspired dishes every Monday until THANKSGIVING!

After collecting a lot of recipes we knew we had to start the series with what I think is the most iconic fall treat, Caramel Apples.

Caramel apples combine two of my favorite fall treats, freshly picked New England apples and soft chewy caramels, not to mention it make your house smell delicious in the process. Now when it comes to making caramel apples I always go for Werther’s Original Caramels, because the caramel is smooth, creamy and I love the brand’s iconic caramel recipe,

So let’s jump right into the recipe & what you’ll need! I snagged this recipe from Werther’s Original.

Ingredients:

The great thing about Werther’s Original Chewy Caramels is that you can find them at basically any grocery store and at a ton of other retailers, you can even find them on Amazon

So for this recipe make sure to pick up Chewy Caramels, Werther’s Original has a tons of choices when it comes to caramels (hard, chewy, soft, sugar-free, filled caramels and even caramel popcorn), so make sure you have the right ones before sticking it in the microwave. This is essential to making the perfect caramel apple.

Instructions:

Prepare the apples by washing and drying them, once they’re clean push the apple sticks into the tops of the apples.

Pop the caramels and milk in a microwave-safe bowl then place the bowl in the microwave for two minutes, stir then place it back in the microwave for one more minute. Dip & swirl those apples into the caramel mixture (by this point your home will smell amazing).

Once those apples are covered, place them onto a piece of waxed paper until the caramel sets, or for about fifteen minutes in the refrigerator.

That’s literally it! The whole process took me about 30 minutes and it’s basically fool proof. I can be a really horrible baker so if I can do it, it’s super manageable.

However if you just don’t have time to stop and bake, go to the store and try Werther’s Original’s Caramel Apple Filled Candies, they taste just like a real caramel apple & they come in hard and soft caramel.

Matt & I have been snacking on them all month, they are a perfect fall pick-me up.

So that just about wraps up the firstAutumn Appetite recipe! I hope you guys enjoyed it & if you have any suggestions for future recipes you want to see, let me know in the comments below. xx A.

P.S: If you loveeeee Buzzfeed Quizzes then you have to take Werther’s Original “What’s Your Caramel Personality?” quiz. The quiz identifies which delicious caramel fits your personality and I got soft caramel. As a soft caramel I’m a big softy at heart, and trust me I’m always a softy for personality quizzes.

Try it out here & let me know what caramel you are below!  I made Matt take the quiz and he got Creamy Caramel Filled, oh la la.

Thank you, Werther’s Original, for sponsoring this post.
